About:
Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a charity started in 1980 to give people living in Leeds a chance to connect with nature particularly those who don’t normally have the opportunity. Our mission today remains: “to offer people in Leeds and beyond, of all ages, cultures and backgrounds, the chance to experience nature, farm animals and food growing, in our urban green space, so they can learn, share, flourish and have fun in a place of calm, care and compassion”.
We are a 26-acre site a mile and a half out of Leeds city centre. We work with around 5000 school children each year who come to the Farm on our outdoor environmental projects, 30 adults with learning disabilities who come to the farm up to 5 days a week and get involved with every aspect of the farm, over 3000 children and their parents who attend our forest schools. We have a one-acre market garden that provides organic quality food for over 100 local households. We are a visitor attraction open to the public 7 days a week attracting over 20,000 members of the public each year. We also offer corporate team away days for businesses and corporate sponsorship/partnership opportunities.
